Just minutes from Andrews Air Force Base, Mary Surratt's House, Lousia F. Cosca Regional Park, the Woodrow Wilson Bridge and National Harbor!
Centrally located in historic Clinton Maryland, the Miller family has continued to preserve the down home atmosphere that only a true working farm can bring. Established in 1840, it is one of Maryland's oldest family run working farms. Prior to 1964 the Miller family grew tobacco and sweet potatoes. In 1964, the Miller family opened a small market to sell produce grown from their farm. In the late 1970s the family expanded the operation to include pick your own produce and farmers markets. In 2000 Miller Farms expanded into vegetable and flower production, building four greenhouses. In the fall they offer hayrides, a grain and seed exhibit, a small corn maze for kids and scarecrows. Stop by their farm market, bakery (try one of their locally-famous apple cider donuts!) and home-made ice cream stand.

The Accokeek Foundation stewards 200 acres of Piscataway Park, a national park located in Accokeek, MD, on the shore of the Potomac River directly across from Mount Vernon. Our land serves as an outdoor classroom for educational programs, research, agricultural and conservation projects. The National Colonial Farm, an outdoor living history museum, was established by the Accokeek Foundation in 1958. The farm depicts life for an ordinary tobacco planting family in Prince George's County in the 1770s. Historic sites like George Washington's home, Mount Vernon, represent what many believe life was like in the colonial period. However, large plantations were far from the norm. Very few colonists enjoyed such luxury. The majority were poorer planters, tenant farmers, indentured servants, and slaves. Skilled interpreters lead tours of the National Colonial Farm, highlighting the colonial structures, fields, gardens and animals. The park is open to the public year around.
